In the shadow of the ancient Athenian Acropolis, the humble commoners' neighbourhood of Plaka is the place Spiros--the honest and hard-working owner of the local coffee shop--calls home. Secretly in love with Pitsa, the beautiful daughter of a weary and poor pedlar, Spiros will finally summon up the courage to ask for Pitsa's hand in marriage; however, a chance encounter with a professional philanderer will fill her heart with delusions of grandeur. Are Spiros and Pitsa meant to be together?
