The Road with the Acacias (1954)

Desperate and utterly convinced that the love of her life has betrayed her, Lena Petri, an honest and sensitive girl who is living under the same roof with her grandmother, decides to put a premature end to her life. Severely injured, Lena is rushed to the hospital, where, thanks to surgeon Christos Vranas' valiant efforts is saved by the skin of her teeth. Before long, Lena falls in love with Christos, only to discover that her kind and handsome saviour is already in a relationship with an opportunistic Athenian arriviste. How long will Lena be able to suppress her passionate feelings for Christos? Will the young girl with the doleful eyes ever get what she wants?
