The Dark Room (2000)

In the 14th century, the young Aliénor breaks with the fate of women and follows what her desires dictate. Risking her life, she succeeds in caring for the King of France. As a reward, she asks the ruler to marry her to Bertrand de Roussillon, whom she has loved since childhood. However, he refuses to consummate the marriage and flees to fight in Tuscany. Aliénor stubbornly meets him again in Italy and pretends to be another woman.
