A new original take on the classic literary work Bay Ganyo by the Bulgarian writer Aleko Konstantinov, this film offers two ways of looking at the character in the story. The first one is the theory that moving abruptly from slavery to freedom of choice inevitably brings along conflict. Old values such as thriftiness are seen as being stingy, paying back a visit is seen as intruding. The second one is that Bay Ganyo is, in fact, a version of Aleko himself and the narrative is an attempt on part of the author to get him out of his system.
