The first novel is "The old man". A fascist concentration camp during the World War II. An old man, former partisan helper, carves the wooden toys for his little grandchild back home. The political prisoners love him. One day the order for the Old Man's release arrives in the camp. However, it only turns to be a cynical hoax on the part of the drunken commandant. The cruel truth overtakes the Old Man at the camp gate. The false order kills him. The second novel is "I Want to Live". The condemned to death antifascist resister escapes to safety. Police rush to look for him. The fugitive is nowhere to be found. Suddenly, he surrenders voluntary. What had made him to prefer death to survival? The rumors have been going among his comrades that he is a traitor. Even in a prison, he is looked upon with the same terrible suspicion... A month later, the death sentence is carried out.
