Fugitives from Bulkes (1969)

Directed by: Andreas Papastamatakis

The film is inspired by events that took place in the notorious Bulkes camp in former Yugoslavia, the far-off refuge of Greek left-wing groups and communists, right after the Treaty of Varkiza on February 12, 1945. After the defeat of the National Liberation Army (ELAS) during the Dekemvriana clashes, two twin brothers, who are like two peas in a pod, find themselves on opposite fronts: one is an officer of the Greek Army, and the other is a commander in Bulkes. The movie recounts the latter's effort to escape from Bulkes; however, the road to Greece is long and perilous. Will the brothers reunite?
