At 25, Julia is a lonely woman. She was raised by her maid, with whom she still lives, after the death of her parents. Marked by her father's oppression and austerity, Julia loathes men. One afternoon she meets Claudia, for whom she feels attracted. Julia, Claudia and another two friends go spend the weekend on Ilha Grande, Rio de Janeiro. The escape of a convict will trigger a senseless dispute between them with tragic consequences.
