Sylvi (1944)

Set in a small Finnish town in the 1890s, 18-year-old orphan Sylvi can't refuse the courtship performed by her guardian, assessor Aksel Wahl. The old spouse does not like a young wife who loves her childhood friend Viktor Halling. Sylvi sinks in despair when Aksel refuses to divorce.
