The Heart of the Greek (1953)

Sotiris and Vathrakas, best friends, impecunious roommates, and perpetually unemployed layabouts, are with their backs to the wall. As the jobless boys are already three months behind in the rent, Sotiris and Vathrakas need to devise a foolproof money-making plan; however, this is easier said than done. In the meantime, the partners-in-crime while away the time, waiting for a miracle to happen. Then, unexpectedly, Sotiris receives notice that the estranged and long-forgotten Uncle John, who has made a fortune in the United States of America, has passed away. Now, as the sole beneficiary in his late relative's will, Sotiris inherits $500,000 and, suddenly, life is sweet again. Can the two friends escape the allure of money, or will their newfound money own them?
