The Damned (1953)

After years of absence, the young and righteous countryman, Andreas Galanis, returns to his rugged and mountainous village of Agrilia, awakening silent, deep-seated animosity. There, the impoverished but proud inhabitants struggle to eke out a living by logging, facing the abuse of the ruthless landowner, Stelios Diakaris, who exploits their labour. But, now, the impecunious workers have an ally in the shape of Andreas, who, in his effort to right a wrong, sparks a bitter feud over the woodcutters' desire to start a small cooperative: the Lumberjacks Association. Is there a future for the damned?
