The Sweetest Gift (1998)

Two neighboring families in Florida, one Black (headed by Diahann Carroll) and one white (headed by Helen Shaver), struggle with the problems of race, poverty, prejudice, and absent fathers as their children become friends over the course of one summer and autumn.
