The Way of Lost Souls (1929)

A prostitute named Lou falls in love with John, a lighthouse keeper. Lou works for Maxim, her protector and presumed lover, in a seedy port club. One night, after John defends Lou from Maxim's abuse, Lou begs John to take her away. He then marries Lou, bringing her to his isolated island. Their love faces many trials, including Maxim's return and John's own mistrust and anger, threatening to destroy everything.
