When tough Cal Douglas rescues Marion Westervelt from a Hell's Kitchen dance-hall brawl, she warns him of the revenge Buck Comas, the leader of one of the gangs, will take. Cal goes to his wealthy cousin Tony Hopkins on Fifth Avenue to borrow money to go West and start over, but finds Tony, who bears a striking resemblance to himself, being cheated by Nichols, the ex-business partner of Cal's father, who had cheated the elder Mr. Douglas out of all his money. They trade identities since Tony, pampered by luxury, is too weak-willed to confront Nichols. Tony's girlfriend Olive Herrick, attracted by Cal's strength and nerve, goes along with the change. Tony is captured by Comas, but seeing Marion, whom he has come to admire, threatened, he courageously beats up Comas, while Cal, acquiring some polish, deals effectively with Nichols. The two cousins find they have lost their bad qualities in the trade and have acquired two new romances.
