Bao shi fu zi (1983)

In 1930s Jiangnan, widower Lao Bao works hard to enable his son, Bao Guowei, to succeed. Despite sacrifices, Guowei, neglecting studies, socializes with rich peers, eventually being expelled for poor behavior. Lao Bao is left in despair.
