Mr. João Vuvu, a close relative of João de Deus (a character to whom Monteiro dedicated a trilogy), a very unsociable widower, takes his daily ride on the bus number 100, invariably travelling the same route, from Praça das Flores to Jardim do Príncipe Real (Lisbon, Portugal). There, while sitting in the shade of a century-old cypress tree, he smokes a cigarette. But his misanthropy ends up being disturbed during these bus journeys and Mr Vuvu finds himself involved in the most curious erotic-philosophical adventures and misadventures, meeting the most unusual characters who will give him a lot to think about. "Vai e Vem" is João César Monteiro's last film and if some wanted to see a testament film, others saw a provocative, scatological, erotic and autobiographical film. In line with what he has always done and which has made him one of the most emblematic directors in Portuguese cinema.
