James is a rather serious student from England studying at the Walden School for Boys in New England. His roommate talks him into helping bring the exotic dancer known as Whirlygirl to perform at a secret venue on their campus. He reluctantly agrees to assist but declares that he will not be attending the performance. The visit is arranged with an old water tower decorated for the event. At the last minute, James decides he will go to see her. Whirlygirl arrives a little late but meets all the prurient interests of the young male students. To James's amazement, her parting gesture of selecting a boy to kiss, falls on him. He receives a sizzling kiss from her as she readies to leave. It is only later that he realizes his watch is missing. It is a special keepsake from his deceased father. Determined to get it back, he gets permission to go into New York City and hunt down Whirlygirl. All he has to go on initially, is the identity of the taxicab that took her back. Eventually, James is able to track Whirlygirl's address down. He breaks into her third story apartment by climbing along a window ledge. When she returns and finds him there, she apologizes and offers to make it up to him. This is the start of some wild adventures in the city that ultimately lead to them sleeping together. He also learns that she has a jealous former client who has fixated on seriously hurting or killing her. Back at school, James realizes that he loves her and worries that the stalker is planning to assault her at an upcoming fraternity appearance. He steals his advisor's car and heads to the venue to warn and protect her.
