Red Rose (1993)

One long and painful year after the tragic death of his beloved French actress wife, Arlette Baumann, her husband and Greek director, Dimitris Kollatos, summons up the strength to share memories. Holed up in his gloomy neoclassical home with his autistic son, Alkis, Dimitris Kollatos struggles to cope with loss, guilt, and the prospect of a dark future without his delicate muse and lifelong companion. Interspersed with memory-laden excerpts from Athens Khi Psi Xi (1962), Olives (1964), The Death of Alexandros (1966), and Life with Alkis (1988), devastated Dimitris Kollatos tries to comprehend, and perhaps answer some of the relentless whys, and hopefully, reconcile with the cruel fact and inescapable certainty of death.
