Pligomena neiata (1969)

With her small suitcase filled with meagre belongings and noble dreams, young country girl Marina arrives in Athens to create a brighter future. Indeed, the hard-working newcomer soon lands a job and rents an apartment with Elena, a gullible woman betrayed by good-for-nothing womaniser Aris. But Elena is on the ropes--her fatherless child is now an unbearable responsibility. And just like that, compassionate Marina becomes the baby girl's mother. However, as months of absence turn into years, Elena returns home to claim her daughter back after six long years. But mothers are supposed to be there for their children. Does Elena deserve Marina's magnanimity and the right to be a parent?
