Narrated by David McCullough, and featuring an ensemble voice cast: Julie Harris, Derek Jacobi, Paul Roebling, Arthur Miller, Garrison Keillor, Kurt Vonnegut, Douglas Turner Ward, Shelby Foote, Walter McPherson, Chris Murney, Wendy Tilghman, Jerome Dempsey and Ronnie Gilbert.
