Anything for Her Child (1958)

Unaware of the cruel ways of the world, the young and innocent charwoman, Elli, struggles to eke out an existence in post-World War II Athens. Then, a whirlwind romance with the wealthy and self-assured Casanova, Kostas, paves the way for false promises and heartbreak, as poor Elli will soon find herself betrayed, and pregnant to Kostas' fatherless child. As a result, desperate Elli tries everything in her power to protect her baby, and when all hope is lost, she leaves her newborn boy on the doorstep of an affluent family. But, Elli has come up with a bold plan; one that, if it works, will ensure the boy's happiness. Will everything go as planned for the sake of her child?
