Kavirathna Kaalidaasa (1983)

Upper-caste Brahman Kali, who lives with his stepmother and her son in a village, faces her ire when she is told that he is in love with a low-caste woman. Soon Kali and his lover will be blacklisted and forced to leave the village. Their travels will take them to another town, ruled by a king and his learned but very snobbish daughter, who will shortly hire Kali's girlfriend as a singer in her palace. But the real challenge for Kali will come when he is pitted against the princess in a competition, the result of which will change his life forever.
