Mr. Lonely (1972)

Down on his luck, but confident in his singing talent, Vic (VICTOR WOOD) accepts a low-paying job in a classy joint to forge influential connections. A wealthy widow (AMAPOLA) recognizes his talent and helps him with his career, and although committed to his childhood sweetheart, he finds himself beholden to the widow. Gradually their relationship blossoms until an evening of shared secrets brings about unexpected confessions.
