Iris is a self-determined woman in her prime. Good-looking, in charge in her job as a prosecutor, picking her men as she chooses, self-sufficient to the core, she will be nobody's fool. It takes the striking diagnosis of Lou Gehrig's disease, the acquaintance with a stoic doctor, and a paraplegic boy who has the sole wish of one day riding a horse to make her see that she has not yet truly lived. Only at the end of this voyage will she truly be at peace with herself and be able to make a truly informed decision on her own fate.
