The lawyer and passionate amateur cook Rainer Maria Beerlitz actually wanted to open a small hotel by the sea, pamper guests during the day and go swimming in the moonlight with his wife Sandra at night. But 17 years of marriage later, the noble plans are still on hold. Sandra has had enough of her husband's promises and files for divorce. She already lives in her own apartment and is fully absorbed in her job. The almost adult daughter Elena will also move out soon. Rainer Maria finally realizes how serious the situation is. Nevertheless, he firmly believes in winning back his wife when he finally opens the hotel under the palm trees. So he pulls the emergency brake and quits his well-paid legal job in the law firm of his hypochondriac father-in-law. He also goes jogging every day and is also doing an internship as a professional chef. But the abrupt change from the courtroom to the frying pan is not so easy: star chef Vincent hates amateurs in his kitchen. And Rainer Maria's last client, Werner Piech, who is fighting for custody of his little daughter, reminds the prospective dropout that he is a gifted divorce lawyer: Rainer Maria's specialty is the "perceived right". Again and again he manages the impossible, namely "to win non-violently". But despite all this, there is no turning back for Rainer Maria, even the single-family house is already for sale. When Sandra realizes that her dreamy husband is really serious this time, a tender night of reconciliation ensues. But Rainer Maria has to accept that his wife is now living her own life.
