October 2001, Mexico City. Human Rights advocate and lawyer Digna Ochoa y Plácido is found dead with two gunshots in her office. The police claims that Digna committed suicide. Her friends and colleagues think otherwise. The reality is much grimmer. Human Right activists are constantly persecuted, kidnapped and even murdered on a regular basis in Mexico. Digna's death adds to the list. Through more than 70 testimonies, the documentary blends with drama and it reveals how the perverse and corrupt rackets within Mexican government pose a real threat to the basic liberties, such as freedom of speech.
