Sad-Eyed O'Brien commits suicide and leaves his daughter to the care of Calamity Anne. All the cowboys are enamored of her. Calamity, however, means that she shall marry a lord or "dook" and so keeps the boys away. Handsome John Wengle is a suitor for the girl's hand but to no avail. One day a smartly dressed chap from the city arrives and immediately Calamity decides he is the one for her ward. The girl and the city chap elope and all was happiness in Calamity's hut while all was sorrow in the corral.
