Dorothea Merz (1976)

Alongside her husband, Dorothea Merz from northern Germany in Thuringia hopes to lead a simple family life, but eventually she realizes that her thoughts of love and happiness cannot be fulfilled. When her husband suddenly becomes terminally ill, she realizes this is the cause of her struggling marriage. She then visits Rudolf on Capri, where she meets very interesting people. The story takes place against the background of political development in Germany before the infamous Nazis seized power.
