Storyline:  Set entirely within a Kyoto geisha house during the violent upheaval of the Meiji Restoration. As battles rage in the streets, the film focuses on the lives of the women within the house, highlighting their struggles and relationships. Akira, the daughter of the house's madam, Tomi, dreams of escaping her confined world with the help of a rebel samurai. But when Tomi is taken by the shogunate's secret police, Akira's dreams start to dwindle.
