Tired of looking for accommodation with decent rent, Jean Robinson discovers a copy of the novel Robinson Crusoe at a bookstore. He decides to follow the example of the one he believes to be his ancestor and settles on the deserted island of Bois de Boulogne, near Paris. Like the Robinson of the novel, Jean wants to meet a companion and he finds his Friday in the person of a wanderer also living on the island.
