Alaska: Big America (2004)

This documentary presents notable events in the modern history of Alaska, including: Vitus Bering's 1741 voyage of exploration, Henry Allen's 1885 expedition to chart Alaska's major river systems, the Yukon Gold Rush, the 1925 Nome diphtheria epidemic and the heroic dog-sled teams that saved the day, the building of the Alaska Highway and the Japanese invasion of the Aleutian Islands during World War II, the devastating 1964 earthquake and tsunami, the building of the Trans-Alaska oil pipeline, and the opening of the interior thanks to intrepid bush pilots.
