The Third Eye (2007)

African tribes are seen in loincloths in a documentary film.

Malcolm complains about a bookstore refusing to sell his work because of "revealing photographs".

Nika climbs on top of Michael, unbuttons his shirt and tells him to "fuck her". She moves up and down on top of him (while fully clothed). Images of her dead brother flash through her mind. She is seen in bed, presumably naked with Michael, but she is covered up by a bedsheet.

A doctor gives Nika a sheet of paper which features an autopsy report with a diagram of a deceased naked man on it.

Grief, drug overdose, death, suicide, Trepanation and murder are big plot devices in this film.

Various characters, including Jacob and Charlie, are seen discussing going through a strange ritualistic act known as Trepanation, a process which involves a person drilling a hole through their own head. Shots are seen throughout the film of people doing it, and this features shots of blood and brain-matter being briefly shown. Jacob apparently did so because he was depressed and wanted to escape from life (later it's revealed that he in fact shot himself which Nika mistakenly believed was Trepanation). Charlie's said reason for doing it to himself was because he was "young, depressed and completely stupid". He refuses to do it to anybody else for fear of damaging them in some way.

Jacob lies in a hospital bed, discussing what happened to him during his drug overdose.

Nika points a revolver at Charlie with the intent to kill him. Charlie tells her the truth of what happened when Jacob died, stating that Jacob shot himself in the head after Charlie flat-out refused to do the Trepanation thing to him, after which Nika discovered Jacob's dead body (blood is seen splattered on a stage mirror while the scene takes place). Nika then discovers a VHS tape in which she does Trepanation on herself (a drill is seen hitting her skull, followed by blood running down her face). She then remembers everything and realizes that she had blocked it all from her mind to avoid the horror of it all.

The ghost of a dead drug addict drifts around.

It is mentioned that Nika and Jacob's parents are dead from a car crash.

Nika has a nightmare in which she imagines Charlie attacking her brother with a drill. He grins in a creepy way and blood splashes everywhere.

Some uses of swearing: "fuck", "hell", "damn", and milder phrases like "jerk", "oh my god", "moron", "idiot" and "junkie".

Drug addiction is a big topic in the film, and Jacob is at first believed to have died from a drug overdose.

Charlie is said to have been a heroin addict who may have accidentally influenced Jacob (who idolized Charlie) to try drugs himself and get hooked.

Charlie gives Nika painkillers after she injures herself.

"junkie" and "druggie" as phrases are both thrown around.

Nika repeatedly drinks huge glasses of red wine.

Alcohol is seen at a bar.

Charlie drinks beer.

A younger Nika steals a joint (marijuana) from Charlie and shares it with Jacob.

Some smoking of cigarettes is seen.

Charlie sings a song that he wrote about his grief after Jacob's death, using the lyrics to describe in detail how horrible and painful it is.

Nika has problems getting on with her life after her brother's death, and is seen obsessing about drug-addiction newspaper stories, keeping a shrine to Jacob, ignoring her friends, having spontaneous sex with a guy (off-screen) and even hallucinating Jacob's ghost following her around.

Charlie (a close family friend) tries to tell Nika about the truth of her brother's death, but she is extremely rude to him and blames him blatantly time and time again for Jacob getting into drugs. She even goes so far as to point a gun at him and accuse him of murdering Jacob on purpose. Charlie is said to be ill with grief after Jacob's death and he expresses an extreme amount of guilt for what happened. It is later revealed that it was not his fault at all, and that he in fact tried to save Jacob's life by refusing to perform the Trepanation thing on him. Nika eventually forgives Charlie and hugs him while confessing that she misses her brother.

The whole subject of Trepanation is quite disturbing and may upset some viewers.

The subject of drug addiction might bother some viewers.
