ABC Colombia (2007)

Set in the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta, ABC Colombia follows the young protagonists in this problematic setting through an entire school year, exploring some of the realities that nurture and perpetrate the violence in Colombia. The film was shot during a particularly significant time for the area. The Plan Colombia had just fumigated the local coca plantations which were its main economy, and the local paramilitary boss was negotiating his surrender with the then president Alvaro Uribe.
