Falling Up (2009)

The mother of the lead character takes a job in an adult video/magazine/implement/clothing store. One scene takes place in the store in which the character tries to convince his mother that working in the store is inappropriate. She declines mentioning how she is respected. In the background we can hear the audio track from an adult film. (nothing is seen; only heard).

Many characters are seen drinking alcohol; in one scene two male characters discuss snorting cocaine and then do so but this is not directly seen.

Two scenes: the first involves a dog who is accidently strangled off screen; we subsequently see the lead character performing Artificial Resuscitation successfully on the pooch. The second scene involves the overdose of a character who snorts too much cocaine previously having also imbibed a lot of alcohol; he collapses and is subsequently saved by the lead character.
