For a year now, the German doctor Katrin Berger has been running a small bush clinic in Namibia together with her colleague Sam Vanderloo. With a mixture of self-confidence, professional competence, respect and empathy, the idealistic doctor has managed to win the trust of the locals. In this way, Katrin is continuing the legacy of her husband, who died unexpectedly a year earlier. She also takes care of his two children from his first marriage. Although Sam has been in love with Katrin for a long time, he hides his feelings from her - out of respect for the memory of his deceased friend, but also because Katrin does not seem to be ready for a new relationship. The attractive Christian Lindenburg has fewer scruples: when he is admitted to the clinic after a hunting accident, he starts flirting with Katrin right away during the examination. The jealous Sam has to watch helplessly as the easy-going charmer, who has become wealthy with an inherited gold mine and now runs a safari lodge, courts Katrin with every trick in the book. And after initial hesitation, Katrin seems to take a liking to the adventurer's advances. At the same time, however, a mysterious animal death is causing her serious concern. It turns out that the region's water source is contaminated with cyanide. This not only threatens the existence of the surrounding farms and the lives of the people, but also the future of the clinic. As the local authorities show no interest in investigating the case, Katrin and Sam start researching on their own. In doing so, they not only track down an environmental scandal, but also find out that Katrin's admirer Christian is hiding a dark secret behind his boyish sunny boy façade.
