A Royal Affair (2012)

Caroline Matilda, british princess, marries the mentally unstable danish King Christian VII. When she discovers her husband's erratic behavior, she finds comfort in a romance with the King's doctor, Johann Struensee, who becomes the face of the power behind the throne by implementing progressive reforms that challenge the conservative nobility. An incredible period reconstruction and costumes, as well as excellent performances, reflect to the audience the sumptuous but turbulent world of the danish court of the 18th century.
