There is one swear word in the movie, but its used ironically. In recalling his early days of doubt, a character states that "Billy was always there for me, d*mmit."

There are some disturbing images (mostly of war-time Nazi atrocities) that fuel the crisis of faith for one character. He (and the viewer) also sees a young boy being wheeled into a hospital on a gurney. The boy and his mother (walking beside him) both have blood on their heads/faces (perhaps from a car accident).
