Lawless (2012)

Set in 1931, the film follows the Bondurant brothers of Virginia, who were bootleggers at the height of Prohibition. Although the local police accept their bribes, a violent war breaks out when a lawman, Charley Rakes, seeks to shut down the Bondurants' business. A captivating dramatic thriller with a western atmosphere, highly entertaining and quite intense, with compelling characters and great performances by its cast, screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
