Dolphy reworks his famous cross dressing Pacifica Falayfay into "Serafica Parakikay" in Stariray, which was released in February 1981. Dolphy cooks and cleans for his three crooked ugly brothers (notable goons Paquito Diaz, Rodolfo "Boy" Garcia, and Rod Navarro) in a sad Cinderella house. At the same time, he dreams of becoming a successful singer. The opening song-and-dance number through a fish market, which rips off both "Can't Stop The Music" and the Twilight Zone theme, is excellent. Despite being gay, Dolphy is in a romantic relationship with fashion model and undercover agent Stella (Carmi Martin). Serafica and their sick mother (Marissa Delgado) are unaware that the brothers are part of a criminal organization called the Gagambas ("Spiders"), which specializes in hypnotizing and defrauding visitors. The group is headed by the very - ahem - seductive "Mother." Serafica is recruited by Police Chief (Dolphy's right-hand comic Panchito) to assist in taking down the gang and his evil brothers after the Gagambas' crime spree involves the brothers robbing their own mother's coffin. Panchito's diminutive Strategic Planner (a gruff-voiced WengWeng) trains him in kung fu, or as much as his flouncy nature permits. A manly dancer (Dolphy's son Edgar Quizon) and Mother's moll (Anna Marie Gutierrez) provide further romance, joining Serafica and Stella in a humorous full-scale attack on the Gagambas' hideout.
