Troubled, young mortician, Jacob Spencer, has a unique relationship with the dead. Feeling disheartened by his affinity for the non living, he has difficulty coping with his budding emotions for his assistant, Beth. Finding help through his longtime friend and Priest, Father Charles, Jacob works to turn his unconventional feelings around, while Beth searches for their common ground.
