Polar science is revealing much about the Earth's changing oceans and climate. In Arctic Cliffhangers, an inquisitive biologist clambers over rugged coastal headlands to learn about the cliff-dwelling inhabitants of Canada's Far North. Dangling into a precipitous and little-known world, he encounters spectacular surroundings that are teeming with life. Through adventures with scientists and Inuit hunters, he discovers how today's vanishing sea ice is influencing marine life and challenging the viability of indigenous culture. The film spotlights and interprets aspects of the biology and life history of seabirds and provides insights into the interactive role that humans play in affecting ecosystem balance. In addition to communicating some of the latest scientific findings on polar marine research, Arctic Cliffhangers also documents the age-old hunting traditions carried on by Canada's aboriginal subsistence hunters.
