Imagining Mina (2011)

A multi-layered narrative documentary about the boxing legend Mauro Mina Baylón. Imagining Mina follows Mina's hero's journey, while analyzing the social and racial attitudes in South America during the mid-twentieth century, the manipulation of the media and the politics of the boxing business. A product of extensive research, the film rediscovers a forgotten chapter Peruvian and boxing history. It includes candid first-hand accounts; rare archival material; and new footage shot in Peru and the U.S.
