Dear Daddy (2010)

When she was 12 years old, just moments after a family argument, Mayumi Maruyama's father hung himself in the garage of his family suburban American home. This film is her effort to both understand and come to terms with her father's tragic death and to confront the cultural wall of silence which may have contributed to his suicide, and continues to separate this modern all American girl from her traditional Japanese family.
