At the Heart of Resistance (2008)

This is a remarkable story of courage and resistance, which follows members of WOZA 'Women of Zimbabwe Arise' as they defy the state's stringent public order acts to stage a series of Valentine's Day demonstrations . 'We are showing our leaders the tough love of a mother disciplining her children' they say as they take to the streets with placards, fliers and song. There is jubilation in Bulawayo as the police stand by while onlookers shout encouragement and join in the march; tension as a call from the dreaded Central Intelligence Organisatiion confirms that WOZA is being closely watched and defiance in Harare when we meet women who have just been brutally beaten.
