Mayer Ashirbad (1982)

Mayer Ashirbad is a social drama that portrays the story of a poor boy Kamal, who makes it big in life as a distinguished doctor, set to make his village a better place. The movie shows his emotional life, how he loses the love of his life Kusum as she is forced to marry someone else. It shows the emotional troubles he faces at the loss of his mother and the tough decisions he ahs to face in life. The movie has themes of love and familial relationships, the hard decisions of life, the mysterious ways of fate and holds up the basic Hindu culture. The movie ends on a happy note, where Kusum and Kamal are both happy in their own lives, and chose to lead separate lives.
