Makis the Messiah, a failed undertaker and reckless horse-racing gambler, is perpetually caught in a vicious circle of false promises, unfulfilled dreams, and ever-growing debts. And then, when all hope seems lost, a shady someone entrusts Makis with an unheard-of task that will set him up for good. Of course, Makis agrees. So, without delay, Makis and a trio of down-and-out pallbearers--former convict Kosmas, unsuccessful thespian Kiriakos, and suave alcoholic Babis--embark on a long journey to deliver the body of a mysterious Greek expatriate to its final destination. However, there is a catch: the mismatched quartet must carry the heavy wooden coffin from the Port of Piraeus to Boeotia strictly on foot. As a result, the four fools in jet-black suits face endless kilometres of scorching tarmac and the rugged Greek countryside, driven by the sweet assurance of a hefty reward. But they say love is mightier than death. In this challenging Odyssey of fresh starts, wild aspirations, and unforeseen twists, can Makis' finest learn a thing or two about life itself?
