As the world is watching the plight of Iranian women and their fight for freedom, this film exposes the obstacles and restrictions imposed on Iranian women who choose to pursue sports, as well as the difficult restrictions and regulations they must comply with. Salam Rugby follows the 2-year journey of filmmaker Faramarz Beheshti in Iran as rugby was being introduced as an "experiment" for women. The film takes viewers on a 7000 km (4500 mile) voyage inside the lives of women who play on, and provides a fresh perspective on what it is to live and play sport as a woman in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
