A rock opera based on the evens of the Salem Witch Trials. After a voyage to the New World in 1691, a brutal attack by Huron Indians kills the mother and father of Abigail Williams. She is sent to live with her uncle, Minister Samuel Parris, who has just accepted an offer from Thomas Putnam to become the new minister of Salem Village. Putnam uses the hiring of Parris to gain control of local and religious affairs in Salem. Parris brings with him his slave Tituba from Barbados. Tituba's strange stories of multiple Gods enthralls Abigail and Parris' daughter Betty. Soon, the girls start feeling free for the first time and thier actions with Tituba are questioned. When Parris catches Abigail and Betty chanting, Abigail confesses they are haunted by the specter of Sarah Goode and Sarah Osborne. In a single stroke, the Salem Witch Trials begin. More villagers are accused, including Abigail's friend Rebecca Nurse. When Rebecca refuses to plead guilty to witchcraft -- she is hanged. The guilt grows in Abigail as the Witch Trials continue.
