Detroit, winter: Paramedics Wells and Maurice clamber through the wounded city in their ambulance, Medic Truck 20. It's a grueling job, and the middle-aged medics probably need more help than their patients. Wells is worn out after ten years of EMS; he's losing his soul. Maurice is a veteran, a lifer. He's seen everything, almost everything... Today is a special day. Today, Wells and Maurice are taking on the notorious double-shift: a solid 24-hour stretch of misery and suffering. The calls pour in... some patients in critical condition, some just want a little company. Then, an unusual series of events: A drunk, shot dead, and a map leading to a stash of money in an abandoned building. Twenty-five thousand dollars. For Wells and Maurice, it's a fortune. It's also Wells' way out; he can finally quit his job. They just have to finish their double-shift... But the Medics learn they're not the only ones after the money. When their schemes to outwit some thugs fail, Wells and Maurice plunge deeper into a dangerous mystery. Medic Truck 20's next location might be its last.
