Cinderella is alive and well and living in Wigan. For the first time in its history, Wigan Athletic F.C. has made it to the world's best league. Unlike previous débutantes in the English Premier League, Wigan flourished, playing in a League Cup final against Manchester United: an archetypal David vs. Goliath battle. Led by an outspoken, scouse manager, Paul Jewell, the Latics played with a consistency and confidence beyond their pedigree. The club's success is the crowning glory for chairman Dave Whelan, a multimillionaire business man who proudly proclaims, "I am a Wiganer". These two charismatic figureheads allowed cameras into the club to capture the magic and marvel of a "nowhere club" arriving in the big time. The unprecedented access and legitimate storyline give an insight into the workings of a top flight professional football club as has never been seen. On and off the pitch the story of Wigan's inspiring first season will provide insight for the curious, hope for lower league teams, and a 'second team' for neutral supporters everywhere.
