Anew (2012)

Over 4 billion lbs of carpet gets dumped in America's landfills every year. After witnessing furniture being thrown out of a fifth story window in downtown LA, Rose Tourje quit her high paying, prestigious interior design career in protest. Not only did she quit, but after learning more about the waste and disregard for the environment in her industry, she set out on a mission to preserve and redirect that furniture from our over-flowing landfills to the interiors of charities and non-profits all over the world. She created the non-profit, ANEW. Since ANEW's inception in 2005 they have diverted 7,000,000 lbs of furniture and 800,000 lbs of carpet from America's landfills. That furniture has been redirected to over 500 non-profits nation-wide and in 12 countries.
